The Killer Brownies



Kalo boleh mengutip dari buku-nya NCC (Natural Cooking Club) "18 Cake & Cookies Favorit, Step by Step + Jurus-Jurus Jitu," PENNYLANE BROWNIES ini adalah resep brownies asli dari asalnya *just wondering...emang asal brownies darimana ya? :)*." Bisik-bisik tetangga bilang, ini adalah The Killer Pennylane Brownies. Bikin penasaran yah? Apalagi resep ini sama sekali tidak menggunakan mentega/margarin, melainkan minyak goreng. Makin penasaran, karena daku terus terang belum pernah bikin kue yang mentega/margarinnya diganti minyak goreng. Terus ada lagi nih, pesen-pesen di bukunya, kalo mo bikin brownies, justru kita harus "think bantat!" Weleh...nah loh!


Tentang minyak goreng tadi, katanya sih, minyak goreng lebih bisa memperkuat aroma coklat (khas brownies) dibandingkan dengan mentega/margarin. Udah gitu dengan minyak goreng kue terasa lebih lembut/light. Begitu baca resepnya, ternyata caranya juga simple dan ringkes banget. Cocok buat yang pengen bikin cemilan cepet temen minum teh di sore hari tapi males lama-lama di dapur :) *hihihi...pemalas mode on* Soalnya selama ini kan kalo bikin brownies, yang musti nyairin coklat lah, apa lah. Nah, kalo resep ini gak pake coklat cair melainkan coklat bubuk 'thok! Jadi gak ribet musti nge-tim coklat.

Buat yang gak doyan manis atau lagi sakit gigi :), gulanya silahkan dikurangin. Kalo ngikutin resepnya sih, buat aku kemanisan, makanya enaknya dimakan sambil ditemenin seruputan kopi/teh/capucino panas yang gak terlalu manis (malah cenderung pahit lebih enak). The rest is nyam nyam :)...Owiyah, satu lagi, ternyata bener loh, brownies-nya emang lebih light dan lembut.



Pennylane Brownies

Bahan :
4 butir telur
450 gr gula pasir
225 gr minyak goreng
60 gr coklat bubuk
210 gr tepung terigu
1/2 sdt garam
1 sdt vanilla bubuk
120 gr kenari
85 gr chocolate chips

Cara membuat :
1. Alasi loyang dengan kertas roti, dan olesi mentega. Panaskan oven 180 derajat celcius.
2. Campur coklat bubuk, terigu dan vanilla bubuk.
3. Kocok telur dan gula sampai mengembang dan butiran gula menjadi lebih halus. Masukkan garam, kocok lagi hingga rata.
4. Matikan mixer, ayakkan campuran tepung ke dalam adonan telur, aduk rata. Masukkan minyak goreng, aduk rata.
5. Masukkan kenari dan chocolate chips, aduk rata.
6. Tuang adonan ke loyang, panggang kurang lebih 35 menit. Tes dengan tusuk gigi/lidi bersih.
7. Dinginkan sebelum dikeluarkan dari loyang dan dipotong-potong.

Moreover, this recipe does not use butter/margarine, but cooking oil. I'm more curious, cause honestly I've never made any cake using cooking oil, rather than butter/margarine. And according to the messages in this recipe book, "if you want to make brownies, you have to think about * bantat*!" What??

Go back to this oil thing, it is said that cooking oil can strengthen the chocolate aroma which is what the brownies made of, compared to margarine/butter. Moreover, with the oil, the cake will taste soft/light. Upon read the recipe, the steps are simple and short. It's perfect to anyone who wants to make a fast snack while sipping tea in the afternoon, and does not want to spend more time in the kitchen :) * hihihi.. lazy mode on* The reason is because when we want to make brownies, we need to melt the chocolate etc. Now this recipe does not use melting chocolate, but cocoa powder. So it's easier than melting the chocolate first.

To everyone who is not sweet-tooth or is having a tooth ache :), you can reduce the sugar. Refer to the recipe, I think it's too sweet, that's why it's better to eat it while drinking hot coffee/tea/cappucino (not too sweet, or even plain one). The rest is nyum nyum.. :) And yes.. the brownies is softer and lighter.

The Pennylane Brownies

Ingredients :
4 eggs
450 gr sugar
225 gr cooking oil
60 gr cocoa powder
210 gr flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
120 gr almond
85 gr chocolate chips

Direction :
1. Line baking paper into the baking pan and spread margarine. Pre heat the oven with temperature of 180 C.
2. Mix chocolate, flour and vanilla into the bowl.
3. In bowl of electric mixer, beat the eggs and sugar until well spread and sugar is smoother. Add salt and mix it until combined.
4. Turn off the mixer, spread the first mix (flour, cocoa powder and vanilla) into the egg mix, and combine it. Add cooking oil. Mix well.
5. Add almond and chocolate chips. Mix again.
6. Put the mixture into the baking pan, and bake it for less than 35 minutes. Test it with clean tooth pick.
7. Cool it first before remove it from the baking pan. Cut into pieces.
